How to properly use facial masks - Things you didn't know about facial masks!

A good facial mask is an essential part of a good pampering session. It hadn't occurred to me that the techniques to facial masks are much more complicated than just the two step sketches in the instructions box until I did research into how paper masks work. Of course, I had to blog about it to share with you all!

Bluebell was trying to remind me not to fall asleep with my mask on!!

The instructions on the back of the packaging are certainly not wrong, but it's definitely incomplete. Here's a few points to remember during your next pampering session.

For paper masks:

1. The best time for paper masks is right before bedtime. As you are sleeping, your skin cells start to repair themselves and the essence absorbs best during sleep.

2. You should take a nice warm bath before your paper mask as the steam from the bath will open up your pores and allow the essence from your paper mask to absorb well.

3. Longer does not mean better. For paper masks, only leave it on for the maximum time recommended. After the time, the paper mask will start to soak up the water in your skin, leaving your skin dry.

For (deep cleansing) mud masks:

1. The thicker your spread the mask the better. Deep cleansing masks work by blocking your pores so the dirt rises to the surface of your skin and will be washed away when you wash your skin - thicker masks do a better job at blocking your pores.

2. For those you can peel off, peel from the bottom of your face upwards, from out to inwards. This way, your skin does not start "drooping" with the direction of how you peel the mask.

Hope these little tips and tricks make your pampering night even better! :)

Short getaway to TAIPEI with grandma - 2014

Every year I set up - and fail - a ton of new year's resolutions. This year, I was really good. It's currently a third way into the year and I have kind of met a couple of my resolutions. I can't describe how great it feels to tick off one of my new year's resolutions.

One of my resolutions was to treat my grandparent's to a holiday!! Yesterday, I got back from Taipei with my grandma and my sister. We didn't really go sightseeing nor shopping - just relaxed around our hotel but it was nice to have some time away with my grandma!

We flew with China Airlines which was better than expected.
Here are a few snaps from my trip. Just a warning - it's mainly food pictures because we didn't do much but eat and gain fat during our 3 day stay in Ximending.

Super massive piece of fried chicken. My sister and I were discussing why people don't eat it with ketchup - and then we bit into it - and then we understood. It is soo good!! Worth the 20 minute wait!
No trip to Taiwan is complete without Lu Rou Fan!
I fell in love with Lu Rou Fan during the 3 days in Taipei.
We stayed at AMBA in Ximending. We had complimentary buffet breakfast every morning. Although the choice of food wasn't great, I was happy that they served food suitable for myself and my poorly grandma (sister did not want breakfast)
My sister and I saw this Matcha ice-cream cone which looks better than it tastes.
I did quite a lot of research before our trip and everyone raved about this Ah-Chung Mee Sua so it was a must try. I have to say it was quite good ~ just dont think about the pig intestines and it will taste better haha
We went to Addiction Aquatic Development for fresh sushi!
Here's our spread. It all came up to NT$1150 only! It was a very good deal but we definitely ordered too much food - we also had a bowl of scallop rice which was delicious!
Sophisca Chocolates in Ximending.
Second day Breakfast (part 1) - I LOVED the fresh passionfruit! it's been a long time!
I visited TianBa which is a cafe in our hotel - I had their blackberry and elderflower tea.
The pink cup and heart shaped stopper made the drink 10 times better hehe - women are suckers for packaging didn't they say?!
And that's it for now. I did a lot of souvenir shopping for my family back in the UK and HK which consisted of Taiwan sausages and pineapple cakes. I did a bit of shopping for myself too in Watsons so I may do a Taiwan beauty haul later. Till then, toodles!

Mango online!!!

I recently discovered ZALORA. It's an online store based in Asia carrying most of my favorite high street brands from the UK. If you didn't know already - I just love to shop online and browse outfits  -whilst in bed - on days off. Hong Kong is just way too crowded to be shopping on weekends!

ZALORA launched Mango on their site recently and I've been on the site checking out outfits all day long! I love how Mango gives very chic and expensive outfits. Here's what I found: (click on the pictures to find these pieces online)

I can't explain how much I LOVE this outfit! I would say this is totally my style - it's casual classy and looks super clean. I would possibly throw over a blazer or cardigan if I got a little chilly.
I also found this necklace on ZALORA that fell in love with - and will put the outfit together!

Ok, so I hope you enjoyed online shopping with me! I really enjoyed this and will probably do more of these posts! Do check out Zalora for shopping Mango online! Enjoy!
